2012 Coaching Clinic Announced

Dr. Jay Martin, Head Men's Soccer Coach at Ohio Wesleyan, headlines this year's 2012 Great Lakes Coaching Clinic, presented by Ohio Northern University.    This year's clinic is being held on Sunday, April 15th on the campus of Ohio Northern University.   Other speakers include Brent Ridenour, Head Coach Men's Soccer, Ohio Northern University; Mark Batman, Head Coach Women's Soccer, Ohio Northern University; and Jim Adams, Director of Goalkeeping, Cincinnati United Premier.

Registration is only $75 if you register before April 6.   Registration is $85 after April 6.   Take an additional $10 off if more than one coach from your club or high school attends.

Mark Batman, Head Women’s Soccer Coach, Ohio Northern University
Mark Batman is in his eighth season at the helm of the Ohio Northern women’s soccer program and is the fourth head women’s soccer coach in ONU’s history.  Under his direction, ONU has made five straight appearances in the OAC Championship game and has twice won the regular season title. ONU's 16-3-2 campaign in 2011, including national ranking as high as #12, earned Batman Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors.

The 2011 NSCAA National Coach of the Year, Jay Martin, is the winningest active coach in college men's soccer. His career total of 606 wins ranks second all-time in college men's soccer. During the 2011 season, Martin passed Cliff McCrath at Wheaton, Gordon, Spring Arbor, and Seattle Pacific on the career victories list. Martin has guided his 35 Battling Bishop soccer teams to a 606-115-49 record, and his career winning percentage of .819 ranks ninth all-time.

Before winning the National Championship in 2011, Jay Martin’s Battling Bishops extended their unbeaten string in North Coast Athletic Conference competition to a league-record 40 games, winning the conference championship race for the fourth straight season and the 20th time in the 28 seasons of NCAC competition. Ohio Wesleyan has advanced to the NCAA Division III national semifinals. His teams have reached the NCAA Division III semifinals 8 times, finishing as national runner-up twice in addition to the 1998 title. They have brought home 12 regional titles, including 9 in the last 15 seasons that the NCAA tournament included a regional format. Ohio Wesleyan holds the NCAA Division III record with 34 playoff appearances and has recorded 58 playoff victories.

Brent Ridenour, Head Men’s Soccer Coach, Ohio Northern University
Brent Ridenour is in his 14th season at the helm of the Ohio Northern men’s soccer program.  The program comes off its fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance. During his tenure as head coach, ONU has been nationally-ranked in 2000, 2002, 2006-09 and 2011 including his highest ranking as No. 4 in 2011. Under his tutelage, the ONU program has reached the OAC Tournament ten times in the past 13 seasons, earned five OAC regular season championships and four conference tournament championships. In 2010, Ridenour became the winningest coach in the men’s soccer history. He is a 4 time OAC Coach of the Year and was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year in 2011.

Jim Adams, Director of Goalkeeping, Cincinnati United Premier
Jim Adams oversees all aspects of goalkeeping development for the Cincinnati United Premier Program from U11 thru U18.  As a player, Jim was a State Champion and All State selections in high school in New Jersey, went on to become a collegiate All-American and National Champion. Turning professional in 1992, he won two NPSL championships with the Cleveland Crunch and Kansas City Attack respectively. Was USL Goalkeeper of the Year and USL All Star and was an inaugural draft pick of MLS's New England Revolution.  Coaching experiences include Head Assistant Coach at Wilmington College, player assistant coach of the Dayton Gems of the PDL, and has been with CUP since 2000 where he has lead teams to three State Cup finals.
